As we move further into the 21st century our ability to automatically control our many unique processes keeps improving. Our equipment is more reliable, and unit unscheduled shutdowns are becoming rare. Even the occasional power outage has almost become unheard of. If we couple these advances with the increasing number of new employees, the potential for problems and the need for high quality training becomes paramount.
One way to reduce the potential for future problems is through the development of competent, experienced trainers. By giving them the knowledge, skills and tools to become effective at their craft, we will help ensure a safe and efficient transition to safe, qualified and prepared new employees.
Besides the knowledge and skills you'll receive, you'll also get the opportunity to meet with many of our training providers, suppliers and developers. This is your chance to see some of the latest and greatest tools of your trade. They come with many years experience providing materials, applications and programs that will make your job easier and more effective. Several of them have given of their time and money to make this event possible. They have acted as conference sponsors, developed and hosted our website, designed the brochure, emailed the conference details to their customers, and even snail mailed several hundred brochures. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for helping to make this non-profit conference a reality. Thank-you all!
From my 17 years of attending, presenting and organizing training conferences for the American Petroleum Institute, by far the most popular sessions were the "Topics for Discussion". You will see these sprinkled throughout the entire two days. These are opportunities for you to ask your most burning training questions, describe a problem you need to solve, or just seek advice from the audience. You'll be amazed at the number of people who are eager to help! I have received many, many comments that the "Topics for Discussion" sessions are worth the price of admission. It's also a great networking tool. (Hint: Bring Plenty of Business Cards)
