The Northwest Process Technology Alliance (NWPTA) was formed in 2003 in order to support and develop a 2 year Process Technology Degree program at Bellingham Technical College (BTC) and Skagit Valley College (SVC). The program is to provide foundational education for Process Operators.
The creation of the NWPTA brought together BP's Cherry Point Refinery, ConocoPhillips, Shell, Tesoro, Tenaska, IKO, Alcoa, BTC, SVC, Bellingham School District and the Ferndale School District.

The initial focus of the NWPTA was to serve as the Process Technology Advisory Committee for the new degree program, and obtain funding from both the state and industry. With the program up and running, our #1 priority is now the ongoing training and development of incumbent workers. To this end, we are sponsoring our first annual technical trainer's conference.
We believe that by increasing the skills of our technical trainers we will improve the safety, knowledge and abilities of our current employees. This leads to reduced injuries, fewer environmental excursions and increased equipment reliability.
We hope to accomplish this through extensive networking/benchmarking opportunities, Train the Trainer classes, and training supplier/vendor contacts. We want to provide you with all the tools and help you need to have a positive impact for your company.
